Hoka One One - Cielo X 2 LD

Summary

If trying to up your game, or need a 3200m track shoes: These may be your new favorite kicks. Warning: this is not a road shoe, but a track shoe only. I tested on both a traditional track and a older cinder track. Good for 1600m-10k track events.

Hoka One One Cielo X 2 LD Review

Light weight built to compete with the Nike Air Zoom Victory, but about $30 less expensive. Very light weight, with just enough light padding. 3.8 oz, they feel like I'm running barefoot. Snap of the carbon plate that gives you just a little more power.

Re-enforcement

On the outer heal, reenforced. Compared to my rocket X2, it will help lengthen the life of this shoe

Heal reenforced grip helps in the longer track runs, especially for us pronators.  Very responsive, you can feel the carbon plate returning some of your energy. You can feel the heel grip as you speed through the curve of the track.

Pebax "Horseshoe"

Pebax horseshoe
Both Pebax and metal spikes

These shoes were purchased for my track workouts with (against!)  our high school team.  Tested with 400m repeats. (100 meter rest, 8 sets).   Even without adding the metal spikes, the Pebax horseshoe helps grab the track.  With metal track spikes on a cinder track,  great grip even in the rain Cielo X 2 LD has enough  padding I could feel the earth, yet not the rocks.

Wear of the colors on the bottom of the shoe is about 5 miles of running.

Two of our students also wanted to try them on.   Both commented that if they forgot their metal spikes, they still feel great. (Thanks kids for the input!)

Cloth upper

Knit upper
Great overall feel, I did feel like I was floating. Picked up a bunch a leaves.

The knit upper shapes it self to your foot providing support without cutting in to your foot. And it matches the Rocket X2, just for fun.
